A Manhattan man has been arrested in connection to a hit and run that left a man in critical condition.
Officers were called to the 4700 block of Skyway Dr. on February 11, 2023, around 9:30 p.m. after a 30-year-old man was found on the side of the road with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.
He was transported to Via Christi and later to Stormont Vail in Topeka for treatment of his injuries.
After a request to the community for information surrounding the event and amazing work by our detectives, Kristopher Mackey, 34, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on March 2, 2023, around 3:00 p.m.
Mackey was charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in great bodily harm and two counts of interference with LEO; one count for falsely reporting a felony intending to obstruct and one count for concealing/altering/destroying evidence in a felony case.
Mackey remains confined in the Riley County Jail in lieu of bond pending his first appearance in Riley County District Court.
