Crime Stoppers
Serving Manhattan and Riley County.
The Riley County Police Department and the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers are improving the crime submission tip process. Starting on January 1, 2019, Crime Stoppers is transitioning to a new tip submission program: P3Tips. Users who call in tips will not see a change. Users who submit tips online will no longer be able to use TipSubmit to enter tips. You will need to instead use P3Tips.
We encourage members of the public with smartphones or tablets to download and use the free mobile phone/tablet app to assist RCPD in stopping and deterring crime in the Riley County area.
Send us an anonymous Web Tip... Or use the P3Tip App on your iPhone or Android device. For iPhone users, you can download this app in the iTunes App Store and for Android users, your can download this app by visiting the Android Market. Want more information on how to use this program, go here! In a world of ever increasing use of smartphone technology, this app will give community members the ability to more easily converse with law enforcement in a truly anonymous way, while still maintaining the ability to qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
Beginning on January 1, 2019, text tips will no longer be available.
You can always contact Crime Stoppers at 785-539-7777 or Toll-free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Please note, Web Tips are not currently monitored 24/7 like the phone service. If your tip is about an "in-progress" crime or suspicious activity, please contact the Riley County Police Department directly at 785-537-2112. If you have information about an emergency situation, please dial 911.
Rewards
A board of volunteer citizens oversees the Crime Stoppers Program and approves the rewards to be paid. However, the caller's identity, nor tip detail, is not revealed to the board. Callers eligible to receive a reward may call the Crime Stoppers hotline and provide their code number. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks from the time of your initial tip for investigation, processing, and determination of reward eligibility. When you call to check on your tip status, if you are eligible for a reward a time and place will be set up for the caller to receive their reward without anyone knowing their identity.
Who Benefits
Everyone in the Riley County area benefits from the program, except the criminals. The community benefits by having citizens involved; crimes are solved; property is recovered and drugs are confiscated, thus making the community a safer place for everyone. The law enforcement agencies benefit through enhanced community policing.
