Manhattan, Kan. -

Officers filed a report of motor vehicle theft on May 21, 2024, at approximately 11:05 AM in the 2300 block of Stagg Hill Road.  Officers listed Briggs Auto as the victim when it was reported an unknown subject stole a 2016 Chevy Silverado as well as a separate Kansas temporary tag off of the lot.  Total estimated loss associated with this matter is over $20,000. Officers filed a report of theft by deception, criminal use of a financial card x4, attempted criminal use of a financial card x11, identity theft, and theft within 72 hours from three businesses on May 21, 2024, at approximately 11:15 AM in the 300 block of Poyntz Ave. Officers listed a 46-year-old male and Hitchpin Inc. as the victims when it was reported a known suspect utilized the victims cards to make fraudulent purchases, and attempted purchases. Total estimated loss in this matter is $532.71.


Officers filed a report of an injury accident on May 21, 2024, at approximately 12:06 PM in the 500 block of Fort Riley Blvd.  Officers listed a 61-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a vehicle pulled in front of him causing him to make an evasive maneuver which resulted in him downing his motorcycle.  Rick Runion was transported via EMS to Via Christi medical center for treatment of his non life-threatening injuries.


Officers filed a report of an injury accident on May 21, 2024, at approximately 1:03 PM in the 1100 block of Poyntz Ave.  Officers cited Lojean Oleen, 80, of Dwight, Kansas, for failure to stop at a red light after her Dodge Journey struck a Honda Civic driven by Benjamin Nyberg, 91, of Manhattan.  Oleen was transported by EMS to Via Christi medical center for non life-threatening injuries. 


Officers filed a report of aggravated batter and batter on May 21, 2024, at approximately 4:30 PM in the 1000 block of South Seth Child Road.  Officers listed a 33 year old female as the victim when it was reported a known subjected battered the victim using a table.  


Officers files a report of distribution of a controlled substance causing great bodily harm on May 21, 2024, at approximately 6:26 PM in the 3500 block of Hudson Circle.  Officers listed a 20-year-old female as the victim when it was reported after ingesting the substance the victim lost consciousness and was not breathing.  The victim was transported by EMS to Via Christi medical center for treatment.
