Manhattan, Kan. -

John Swartz, 52, of Manhattan was arrested on August 17, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m. on a Pottawatomie County District Court warrant for unlawful possession of meth and unlawful possession of marijuana. Swartz was issued a total bond of $5,000 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 900 block of Vattier St. in Manhattan on August 18, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m. A 21-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported his black Cannondale bicycle was stolen from outside his residence. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 600 block of N. Juliette Ave. in Manhattan on August 18, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m. A 29-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported his Mazda 3 was scratched causing approximately $1,000 worth of damage. Officers filed a report for theft and burglary in the 400 block of Oakdale Dr. in Manhattan on August 19, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m. A 51-year-old man, a 52-year-old woman, and Corteva Agriscience were listed as the victims when it was reported the man's business truck was broken into and an Apple iPad was stolen from inside. It was also reported the man and woman's maroon 2013 Honda Accord was stolen. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $10,300. Officers filed a report for theft in the 400 block of Edgerton Ave. in Manhattan on August 19, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m. A 39-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported his white 2013 Nissan Frontier was stolen while unlocked with the keys inside. Fishing gear and a black duffle bag were also inside the truck at the time it was stolen. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $15,000. Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of S. Scenic and Skyway Drives in Manhattan on August 19, 2023, at approximately 11:15 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 2013 Dodge Avenger had been traveling south when it struck the curb of the roundabout, went airborne, and came to a rest on top of the raised barrier. Officers were advised on scene by witnesses the driver had run away from the scene after the crash leaving a 3-year-old child in the car. No serious injuries were reported. Officers were unable to initially locate the driver of the car. At approximately 8:00 p.m., the driver, Elijah McLeroy, 22, of Junction City was located near the Stagg Hill Golf Course and arrested for interference with law enforcement, failure to render aid, no proof of motor vehicle liability, driving while suspended, and aggravated endangering a child. McLeroy remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $15,000.

Lendell Fleming, 22, of Fort Riley was arrested on August 19, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m. for aggravated assault and criminal damage to property after it was reported he had followed a vehicle for multiple blocks into the Alpha Gamma Rho parking lot following a verbal exchange between Fleming and 19- and 20-year-old males driving the second vehicle. Fleming then threatened the two men with a tire iron and damaged property at the fraternity. Fleming was issued a total bond of $6,000 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for burglary and criminal damage to property in the 3000 block of Sandstone Dr. in Manhattan on August 19, 2023, at approximately 2:15 p.m. A 22-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported a car battery, Milwaukee tools, and electric pliers were stolen from inside his car. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $680. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. Blake Konkright, 19, of Junction City was arrested on August 19, 2023, at approximately 5:15 p.m. on a Riley County District Court warrant for aggravated indecent liberties with a child. This warrant stems from a July 29, 2022, incident involving a now 8-year-old female. Konkright remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $40,000. Due to the nature of this crime, no further information will be released.

Thaddeus Jordan, 35, of Wichita was arrested on August 19, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m. on his Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. This warrant stems from original charges of two counts of unlawful possession of meth. Jordan remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $25,000.

Officers filed a report for theft of lost or mislaid property in the 1100 block of Vattier St. in Manhattan on August 19, 2023, at approximately 10:45 p.m. A 28-year-old man was listed as the victim when it was reported his backpack, Apple iPad, and Skull Candy headphones were stolen. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,600. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. Officers filed a report for burglary and criminal damage to property in the 200 block of Springboard Ln. in Manhattan on August 20, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m. City of Manhattan Parks and Recreation and a 50-year-old man were listed as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect broke out the window on a door to the concession stand at City Park Pool. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. Sarah Easterday, 31, of Manhattan was arrested on August 20, 2023, at approximately 1:30 p.m. on a Riley County District Court warrant for distribution or possession with intent to distribute marijuana within 1,000' of a school, cultivation of marijuana, endangering a child, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. This warrant stems from a December 23, 2021, fire in the 1400 block of Yuma St. in Manhattan where responding officers found marijuana inside the burning house. Easterday was issued a total bond of $30,000 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 3000 block of Dickens Ave. in Manhattan on August 20, 2023, at approximately 8:15 p.m. A 23-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported his black Fat Bike electric bicycle was stolen from the 1800 block of Claflin Ave. at Marlatt Hall. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,300. The bicycle was later recovered from the 3000 block of Dickens Ave.

Tomas Barrera, 22, of Manhattan was arrested on August 20, 2023, at approximately 8:45 p.m. on a Geary County District Court warrant for failure to appear and transported to Geary County Jail.
