The driver of the vehicle fled, to which the officer ended the pursuit but continued to follow the taillights from a safe distance. A short time later, the officer located the vehicle parked in the 1300 block of N. 11th Street. The vehicle was empty officers began canvasing the route the vehicle took. Officers located a black backpack in the middle of the roadway containing identification and substances that tested positive for methamphetamines as well as other substances suspected to be Fentanyl.
At approximately 3:10 AM the Riley County Dispatch Center received a call reporting a stolen vehicle. That vehicle was the same vehicle involved in the flee and elude. The reporting party was identified as Michael Curtis Skillern-Lewis, whose identification was found in the backpack.
Officers arrested Skillern-Lewis on probable cause offenses of distribution of heroin/certain substances > 100 grams, flee or attempt to elude, distribution of opiate/opium/narcotic/ certain stimulant 100 grams - < 1 kilogram, and distribute/ possess with the intent to distribute/manufacture. Total bond was set at $85,000. Skillern-Lewis was confined at the time of this report.
