Public Comment for Accreditation


The public portal you find here is to receive comments regarding our agency's compliance with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of praise or concerns. The intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence. For over 30 years, the Riley County Police Department has held itself to the highest standard in law enforcement as recognized by CALEA. As part of routine CALEA assessments for re-accreditation, community members are invited to offer comments regarding our ability to comply with set standards.
 
Riley County works daily to meet the state-of-the-art standards outlined by CALEA. The voluntary process to maintain accreditation is a highly-prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. The Riley County Police Department received its initial accreditation from CALEA in 1991. Our agency is proud to be the first Kansas Law Enforcement Agency ever accredited.
 
Re-accreditation examines all aspects of our department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services.
