Sexual assault can affect anyone regardless of age, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, educational status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and location. In Kansas, Sexual Assault crimes include rape, criminal sodomy, and sexual battery, and these crimes are amongst the most underreported with law enforcement. According to Kansas Coalition against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, within Kansas 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men have reported being raped in their lifetime. 

The Riley County Police Department’s primary objective is citizen safety. One important element of safety is being informed.
