Cops N' Kids

Police Officer Purchasing Gifts

Cops N' Kids is a program that supports families in the community who cannot afford holiday presents. Historically the program has served over 50 families each year. More recently, through the generous donations of employees and the public, the program has served around 75 children each December. Throughout the years, money was raised through various avenues including employee direct donations, public contributions, and Hair for the Holidays.

Hair for the Holidays allowed officers the opportunity to forgo shaving for 30 days if they donated $100 to the FOP Cops N' Kids program. In early 2020, the Riley County Police Department changed its grooming policy to allow for well-kept facial hair.

Since facial hair is now allowed year-round, many officers still choose to donate to the program which has served children in our community for 30 years. Hair for the Holidays is no longer recognized, but the generous acts of kindness by the employees of RCPD continue through their participation in Cops N' Kids.

Community members can nominate children for this program by visiting this page on our website. The nomination form will be available here from November 1st-20th each year.

Riley County Police Department Officers and Community Organizations make needs-based nominations each holiday season.  Due to the continuous growth of this program, these nominations are prioritized. Nominations made using this form will be evaluated to fill additional spaces if available.  Our goal is to help as many children as possible each holiday season.
