An Ogden man has been arrested in connection to a series of rapes reported to have occurred in Ogden from August 2020 to February 2021.

On March 5, 2021, officers filed a report for rape and aggravated indecent solicitation of a child under 14 years of age, listing now 13- and 15-year-old females as the victims and a now 18-year-old male as the suspect. Phillip Daniel Smith, 18, of Ogden was arrested yesterday in connection on one count of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child under 14 years of age and two counts of rape.

March 9, 2021

On Monday, March 8, 2021 at approximately 10:45 p.m., a single-vehicle fatality crash occurred in the 1800 block of Anderson Ave.

When officers arrived on scene they found a 2000 Toyota Celica driven by Jason Bly, 37, of Manhattan had crossed over traffic while heading westbound and struck a retaining wall.

Bly was pronounced deceased on scene.

Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information is available at this time.

Two Manhattan brothers have been arrested in separate rape and aggravated criminal sodomy cases reported to have occurred in Manhattan from 2017 to 2021.

On February 21, 2021, officers filed a report for past sex offenses in Manhattan, listing a now 10-year-old female as the victim and a now 27-year-old male as the suspect. Severino Jimenez Calleja, 27, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on March 5, 2021, on two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy of a child under 14 years of age and four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

On Sunday, March 7, in-person visitation at the Riley County Jail will resume. Visitation is on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with sign-up from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with sign-up from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors must be at least 18 years old. Children are allowed in visitation only if they are the child or sibling of the inmate being visited. Visits are 15 minutes per inmate.
