An adult female body found at Konza Prairie Nature Trail on July 22, 2020 has been identified as missing woman, Nicole Grothe, 38, of Manhattan. Follow-up conducted by detectives and crime scene investigators revealed information that suggested the body was that of Grothe, and the results of the autopsy and dental analysis confirmed the identification today. There is no indication of suspicious circumstances. The investigation is still ongoing.

An adult female body was found at Konza Prairie Nature Trail July 22, 2020, at approximately 10 a.m. The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy is pending. Early indications do not suggest the death to be suspicious. Additional information will be released when available. There is no indication of danger to the public in the area.
July 21, 2020
On July 21, 2020, at approximately 4:12 a.m., the Riley County Police Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting an attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault in the 800 block of N 4th St at McDonalds in Manhattan. Officers listed McDonalds, a 30-year-old male, a 25-year-old male and a 26-year-old male as the victims when it was reported a known suspect brandished a firearm and asked for money.

Wednesday, July 1st UPDATE
The RCPD is no longer seeking the public’s help in identifying the parties involved in a Fatal Traffic Accident in Leonardville, KS on June 19, 2020. The Kansas Highway Patrol worked the traffic accident while the RCPD simultaneously conducted a criminal investigation. No criminal charges are anticipated at this time.
