A Junction City woman has been arrested in connection to a murder in Southern Riley County. Bobbie Jo Long, 44, of Junction City was arrested today on a Riley County District Court warrant for Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder and Aggravated Kidnapping in connection to the 2017 death of Carrie Jones.
In 2018 Steven Meredith, 32, of Junction City was arrested in connection to Jones’ death. Meredith was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.
Bobbie Jo Long is confined in the Riley County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

One person was arrested on an outstanding warrant following a two-vehicle crash in Riley County today.
Officers responded to the 5700 block of Anderson around 4:00 pm Tuesday for the report of a crash. When officers arrived on scene, they found one vehicle had struck another vehicle and caused a fire.
Marcantoni Wood, 23, of Manhattan was arrested on a Manhattan Municipal Court Warrant for parole violation. Wood is confined in the Riley County Jail on a $500 bond.

A 26-year-old Manhattan woman has been arrested on probable cause for Attempted First Degree Murder and Aggravated Burglary after a 31-year-old woman was seriously injured early this morning.
On Friday, June 12th, around 6:30 a.m. the Riley County Police Department Dispatch Center received a non-emergency call from a 31-year old Manhattan woman reporting she had been battered by another adult woman known to her a few hours earlier.

We need your help after a woman reported she was raped in Northeast Manhattan early Saturday morning. We are asking for anyone who has information on social gatherings and guests Friday night through Saturday morning in the area of 6th and Kearney to please contact Detective Jessie Ehrlich.

A local man was found safe after reportedly going missing while swimming at Pillsbury Crossing.
On Friday, June 5th around 9:18 p.m. the Riley County Police Department Emergency Dispatch Center received a call stating a man in his 20s was swimming with a group of friends and could not be found.
RCPD, Riley County EMS, Manhattan Fire Department, Wildlife and Parks, Riley County Rural Fire, and others worked for nearly two hours searching the area for the man.
Just after 11 p.m. emergency services made contact with the missing man, safe at his home.

On Monday, June 1, 2020, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a Riley County Police Department officer on patrol was approached by a citizen in the 1500 block of Poyntz Avenue in Manhattan claiming he had been battered at his home by an unidentified police officer several hours earlier.
RCPD immediately notified the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, who agreed to investigate. RCPD will fully cooperate with the investigation. Please direct any questions to the Communication Director for the KBI, Melissa Underwood.
