A 22-year-old man is confined in the Riley County Jail after a 3-month criminal investigation and 2 active grass fires in rural Riley County on Friday night.
Samuel Gilbert, a Riley County Fire volunteer firefighter, was arrested on two counts of Arson. He is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.
Gilbert was taken into custody around 11:55 p.m. Friday near a pasture fire at the intersection of Alert Road and Sherman Road. The other fire reported that night was on land near Fairview Church Road and Calvary Road.

An Ohio teen is facing federal charges in connection to a November 2019 hoax hostage situation at a Manhattan elementary school.
Allen Kenna, 18, has been charged with attempted use of an explosive device and interstate communication of threats, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Cleveland.

A 27-year-old man is confined in the Riley County Jail after three local businesses were burglarized Friday night.
Oliver Henry, 27, was arrested while in the 1800 block of Claflin on offenses of criminal damage to property X3, burglary X2, and attempted burglary. Henry is being held on a $15,000.00 bond

On Saturday, February 8, 2020, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Riley County Police Department Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired near Aggieville.
Officers responded to the 1100 block of Laramie Street and found an unoccupied vehicle with damage from a bullet.
