For the past 28 years, the Riley County Police Department has held itself to the highest standard in law enforcement as recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

As part of the CALEA assessment for re-accreditation, members of the community and department employees are invited to offer comments at a public information session regarding our ability to comply with set standards. This session will be held:

  • Wednesday, December 11th, 2019 • 6:30 p.m.
  • Manhattan Fire Department, 2000 Denison Avenue • Lecture Hall

The session will continue until all individuals present have had an opportunity to provide comments.

Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes.

If for any reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session, but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, they may do so by telephone. You may call (785) 370-5295 on Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Riley County works daily to meet the state-of-the-art standards outlined by CALEA. The voluntary process to maintain accreditation is a highly-prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. The Riley County Police Department received its initial accreditation from CALEA in 1991. The department was re-accredited in 1996, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2012, and again in 2016. Our agency takes great pride in being the first Kansas Law Enforcement Agency ever accredited.

The on-site assessment begins Monday, December 9th, 2019 through Thursday, December 12th, 2019 and will examine all aspects of our department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services.
