The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. - 

Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Fort Riley Blvd. and Poliska Dr. in Manhattan on November 18, 2018 at approximately 5:40 PM. When officers arrived on scene, they found a gray 2016 Ford Mustang driven by Elijah Wright, 16, of Manhattan had crashed with a white 2003 GMC driven by Christian Barbour, 19, of Fort Riley and a 2014 white Dodge Journey driven by Selena Bennett, 43, of Manhattan. Wright was issued a notice to appear for following too close, expired tag, no drivers license, and no proof of liabilitiy insurance. Barbour was issued a notice to appear for no drivers license. Wright and Barbour were transported to Via Christi for treatment of their injuries. 

Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 1200 block of Bluemont Scenic Dr. in Manhattan on November 18, 2019 at approximately 8:40 AM. Officers listed the City of Manhattan as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect damaged the letters on the hill and new platform overlook with graffiti. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500.00. Police ask that anyone with information please contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
