For the past several years, RCPD has worked to not only say we are community oriented but to show it. We have made it a priority to get out into the community and be a part of the events that matter most to you -- because together, we are a stronger, safer community. We run with the Special Olympics to raise money for Kansas athletes with intellectual disabilities. We walk in unity on Juneteenth, commemorating the abolition of slavery and celebrating freedom for all in Riley County. We watch as thousands of plastic ducks dash down the CiCo Park hill to raise money for children here at home through the Boys and Girls Club. At all of these events and beyond, we want to continue connecting with the community and creating meaningful dialogue through personal interaction.
If you've been to any of these events, you know that we actively participate in the activities, but also provide people delicious food prepared by our BBQ team. We are fortunate to have had the support from RCPD employees and several local businesses who graciously donate their personal grills, supplies and food for these events year after year. We would not have been able to make these events happen without you.
We want to continue doing this events, and continue providing food for the people in our community, but we are asking for help. We would like to purchase a smoker/grill of our own instead of borrowing from employees and businesses. The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation has established a donation account to help us with our goal of strengthening our community involvement through this venture. You can donate two ways.
1. Online at www.mcfks.org
Click "donate" at the top of the page
Choose "RCPD Community Outreach BBQ" from the drop-down list (Look under Community Development & Leadership)
2. Mail cash or check to the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation
Payable to: "RCPD Community Outreach BBQ"

If you would like and are able to donate, we appreciate it. If you are unable to donate financially -- you can still contribute! Get out in the community, participate in events and help strengthen our commitment to making Riley County a safe place to live, learn and work.
