For the past several years, RCPD has worked to not only say we are community oriented but to show it. We have made it a priority to get out into the community and be a part of the events that matter most to you -- because together, we are a stronger, safer community. We run with the Special Olympics to raise money for Kansas athletes with intellectual disabilities. We walk in unity on Juneteenth, commemorating the abolition of slavery and celebrating freedom for all in Riley County.

Our condolences are with the victim who died in the shooting from last night. We would like to thank all the people we interviewed and came into contact with who were cooperative in assisting with the late-night investigation. Because of the support from the community, our detectives were able to identify, and arrest the suspect in a murder investigation within 12 hours of the crime.
