October 2, 2019

On Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019, around 4:50 p.m., the Riley County Police Department Emergency Dispatch Center received a call stating an adult male had been shot in the 2500 block of Farm Bureau Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 20-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound not believed to be life threatening. He was transported to Via Christi for treatment.

No arrests have been made at this time. Investigation suggests this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

On Saturday, October 26, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Riley County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to Dillons, 1101 Westloop Place in Manhattan or Walmart, 101 Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan. The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
