On Friday, November 30th at approximately 5:15 p.m. the Riley County Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident near the intersection of Hunting and Denison.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and the vehicle involved left the scene.

The vehicle is described as a small white 4-door car.

November 23, 2018

On Thursday, November 22, 2018 at approximately 10:10 PM., the Riley County Police Department received a call stating an individual had been shot in the 700 block of Allen Road in Manhattan. 

When officers arrived on scene, they found an 18 year-old male had been shot in what appears to be an attempted aggravated robbery. The male was transported to Via Christi for treatment of non-life threatening  injuries.

There are two unknown suspects. This is an ongoing investigations, no additional information is available at this time.

Dennis Butler, the current Chief of the Ottawa Police Department, has been selected as the next Director of the Riley County Police Department. Butler was selected after an extensive nationwide search conducted by the Riley County Law Enforcement Agency Board in coordination with McGrath Human Resources Group. 

November 16, 2018

On Thursday, November 8, 2018, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Riley County Police Department Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call concerning an infant not breathing in East Manhattan. 

The infant was transported to Via Christi in Manhattan then subsequently life-flighted to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City where he died.

D’Khari Lyons, 23, of Manhattan, was arrested in connection with the infant’s death while at the Riley County Police Department on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at approximately 12:45 p.m.

On Thursday, November 8, 2018 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Riley County Police Department Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call concerning an infant not breathing in East Manhattan.

November 3, 2018

MANHATTAN, KAN. –On Saturday, November 3, 2018 at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers on patrol in the Aggieville Business District heard what they believed to be a gunshot near the alleyway in the 1100 block of Moro. 

When officers responded to the scene, they found Adam Donaldson, 34, of Junction City with a gunshot wound to his leg. Donaldson was transported to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries. He has since been released.
