The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

October 13, 2018


  Human remains found  

MANHATTAN, KAN. – On Saturday October 13, 2018 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Riley County Police Department received a call from a citizen reporting the discovery of possible human remains in the 300 block of North Park Road in Ogden.

When officers arrived on scene, they began the initial investigation and confirmed the remains are human.

October 9, 2018

On Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Riley County Police Department Dispatch Center received a call concerning a body near a business district in West Manhattan.

When officers arrived on scene in the 1100 block of Westloop Place they found a deceased male.

Investigators do not suspect foul play at this time. There is no danger to the public. This is an ongoing investigation, additional information will be released as it is available.

On Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Riley County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.  Bring your pills for disposal to the Riley County Police Department,1001 S. Seth Child Rd., or Dillons, 1101 Westloop Place in Manhattan.  (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.)  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Have you noticed a small blue light installed on top of some traffic signals around Manhattan? The lights are used to help with enforcement of red light running violations. The blue lights are connected directly to the red light indication of a traffic signal and can be seen from all directions.
