On Saturday, September 22, 2018 at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Riley County Police Department received a call of an unresponsive individual in the 1400 block of Vista Lane.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old male with life-threatening injuries, suffering from a gunshot wound.

The male, Felix K Florez, 21, of Manhattan was transported to Via Christi in Manhattan then life-flighted to Stormont Vail in Topeka where he later died.

On Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at approximately 12:55 p.m., the Riley County Police Department Dispatch Center received a call regarding an injury accident in the 2700 block of Moehlman Rd.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a vehicle vs. bicyclist crash had occurred involving a member of the Riley County Police Department.

The bicyclist, Director Brad Schoen, was transported to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Any further information should be requested through their agency.

The Riley County Police Department along with the Kansas Highway Patrol conducted a DUI checkpoint in the early morning hours of September 1st 2018.  The checkpoint was conducted in the 300 block of Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan, Kansas.  The purpose of the checkpoint was to identify and remove impaired drivers from the roadway.

Three Hundred and Fifty (350) vehicles were stopped at the checkpoint between the hours of 0005 and 0224.
