RCPD & FBI investigating racist graffiti ◊

MANHATTAN, KAN. – On Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at approximately 7:25 a.m., the Riley County Police Department received a report that a vehicle had been defaced with graffiti in the 2220 block of Claflin Road in Manhattan. The vehicle was defaced sometime between 1:30 a.m. – 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning and contained racial slurs and a threat. 

Update:

Officers immediately began investigating and have since filed a report for criminal threat. Officers listed Dauntarius Williams, 21, of Manhattan as the victim. The case is being investigated as a hate crime.

 

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now the lead agency on the case. RCPD will continue to assist the FBI in the investigation. Any media inquiries should be directed to the FBI’s Public Affairs Office at 816-512-8200.
