MANHATTAN, KAN. – On Saturday, March 5, 2016, the Riley County Police Department will establish and maintain a Command Post at the Manhattan City Park Pavilion in regards to the annual Fake Patty’s Day celebration. This Command Post as well as the Public Information Officer for the Riley County Police Department will host periodic news briefings or press conferences throughout the day.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Officers with the Riley County Police Department and emergency medical personnel responded to 930 Poyntz Ave. (1st Lutheran Church) in Manhattan on February 23, 2016 at approximately 5:20 PM for a report of a serious injury collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. This collision occurred in a private parking lot when a 93-year-old female pedestrian fell to the ground and was struck by the front tire of a 2010 Cadillac SRX driven by a 34-year-old female.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Beginning on February 29, 2016 and ending March 13, 2016 the Riley County Police Department will join Law Enforcement agencies across Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma in a traffic safety operation to reduce teen driver related fatal collisions. In 2015, 13 teens lost their lives due to car crashes in Kansas; 40% of those teens were not properly restrained.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Emergency crews responded to the 600 block of Yuma Street in Manhattan on February 12, 2016 at approximately 10:48 AM after an officer with the Riley County Police Department made contact with a community member, a 43-year-old male, who had sustained a significant cut to his arm and was bleeding profusely. He was transported to Via Christi Hospital for his injuries. Immediately after making contact with this subject officers observed smoke coming from the home at 615 Yuma Street.
