The Riley County Police Department will be holding its monthly NextCoffee meeting on February 23, 2015 at 5:30 PM. The meeting will be held at Radina’s On The Hill located on the west side of Manhattan. Sgt. Dustin Weiszbrod from the Riley County Police Department’s Hazardous Material Response Team will be this month’s guest speaker to discuss the team’s role as a resource within the community.
NextCoffee meetings are held on the last Monday of each month. They are a casual setting in which Manhattan and Riley County community members can interact with police officers of the Riley County Police Department in a light hearted and casual atmosphere. Officers and employees involved in the program provide an educational experience and open discussion on topics like crime in the community and how the department is responding.
The department’s NextCoffee goes hand in hand with its online counterpart, Nextdoor. This free program is used to better facilitate communication throughout the community and replaced the neighborhood watch program in Riley County earlier this year.
